Dear Subscriber,
It was an honour to be asked to paint this painting. It is the largest painting I have ever done and in many ways the most challenging, but what a joy to be asked to provide this couple with a remembrance of one of the most important days of their lives.
Before I paint a painting, I sit and prayerfully contemplate my goal. I ask myself, what do I want to accomplish by doing this painting?
When I created this piece, my intention was not to depict the exquisite flowers with perfection nor to render the groom's green velvet jacket flawlessly. I wasn't contemplating his bowtie or her dress or hair. All those things are lovely, but they are also fleeting.
The beauty I wanted to capture was the sparkle in the couples' eyes as they looked at each other. When I looked at their gaze, I saw a mutual love, a hope for the future, unity, trust, and devotion to one another.
This young couple will have heartaches and disappointments in their lives. Everyone does. I hope and pray that they remain united and face life's challenges together. One day, they will celebrate their sixtieth anniversary, and when the photographer takes their picture, the light that shone between them on their wedding day will still be shining brightly because their love has grown even stronger throughout the years.
Thank you again to their family for giving me the opportunity to paint this painting.
Warmly,
Rhonda
