Artist's Statement:
I paint what I consider beautiful and meaningful, expressing it in a style that most accurately captures my thoughts and emotions. I am confident that celebrating and communicating the beauty in this world has the potential to uplift and inspire others.
My practice sits within the tradition of contemporary impressionism. I have painted many commissioned portraits. Capturing a portrait in a meaningful yet skillful way is my greatest joy. Each person I paint possesses a unique and beautiful quality that deserves celebration. I also paint still life and landscapes, focusing on the way light shifts across surfaces and how colour and texture interact in a single moment of observation. To render these qualities, I combine loose, expressive markmaking with more detailed work where I want the viewer to focus.
No matter what I paint my underlying concern remains consistent: exhibiting a quietness worth slowing down for.
