Jesus said, "Unless you become like a little child, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven." When I paint a portrait of a child, my question is, "What can I learn from this child? What does this child understand about being part of God's kingdom that I do not? I discover my answer in their beautiful, honest eyes. Every child I have painted has inspired me to strive to be more than I am. My prayer is that as you look at my portraits of these sweet children, even if you don't see exactly what I see in their eyes, they will be an inspiration to you as well. As this wee fellow was gradually coming to life on my easel, I fell in love with his joy, his trust, his peace, and his contentment.
