This vintage still life painting was done from life at Nelles Manor Museum in Grimsby, Ontario. The warm tones give one a cozy, homey mood.

Copper kettles and brass mugs, such as the ones in the painting, were popular in the late 1700s and early 1800s.  Brass mugs went out of style because the lead  inside the cup can dissolve into the tea, causing nerve and organ damage over time.  The moral of the story:  All that glitters is not gold.

This painting was created with professional soft pastels on archival paper; this painting boasts exceptional archival longevity and will not fade or yellow with age. However, the surface remains delicate.  If you purchase it unframed, it must be framed behind glass to protect it from smudging, moisture, and dust. Always handle the unframed painting by its edges.

If you choose to purchase the painting framed, the frame will be beautifully constructed and assembled by an accomplished framer and include all the features you would expect from professional framing. Experts select the colour of the matting and frame to enhance the painting.
